Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]. JAMES 5:16 (Amplified Bible)

In this edition of Pastor’s Notes, I want to share some nuggets I and other ministers of IDF-Columbus shared during our monthly minister’s training tele-video conference. The assignment was to watch, listen, and gather the nuggets received from Priscilla Shirer’s message entitled “Releasing Your Grasp” on YouTube. Friends, I guarantee after watching this ‘rhema’ word from the Lord you cannot ever be the same again!

In the month of January 2016 I had the distinct privilege and opportunity to present to the audience of the “UP IT HOUR”, a weekly teleconference presented by Covenant Partners Ministries (CPM) under the direction and leadership of Apostle Gregory K. Ransaw1, to talk about Spiritual Disciplines. I am a firm believer that in order to do what God has called us to do, I must, we must discipline ourselves in the things of GOD to position ourselves to receive the blessings of GOD!

Praise God to you who have taken the time to visit our website to read my nuggets, thoughts, or comments. As you know, if you have been reading my words of encouragement, I am a big reader of the devotional “Experiencing God Day by Day” by Henry and Richard Blackaby and again, in its entirety, I wanted to share the devotional entitled: “Comfortable in Our Bondage”. I have highlighted several areas for emphasis and what I will give some commentary on at the end of the devotion.

Friends we are so excited about what the Lord is about to do in the lives of all those who will trust in HIM. It is so interesting because I thought I was indeed trusting GOD for my life, but in essence the LORD showed me that I was doing things out of my gifts and talents that HE has given me, but I was not truly experiencing the TRUTH of HIS WORD!

Praise the Lord! Happy New Year! Yes, I know it’s been over a month since the new year began, but this is my first Pastor’s note for the website! I hope to have a fresh note for you all at least twice a month. In any case how I thank God for you the reader!
Here at IDF-Columbus we are following the theme “Release the Fire Within!” All too often we go to conferences and seminars and we get fired about it and get back home and do nothing about it! But I am determined and asking the LORD to cause me to put into action what I have gained from the conference or seminar or teachings! The Lord has been and still is so good to IDFC! Throughout the years of our existence HE has blessed us with great teachings preparing and positioning us for GREATER! We have had teachings on “Kingdom Principles” by Myles Munroe, “The Law of Confession” by Dr. Bill Winston, “Prayer” by Pastor Kenneth Hagin, and “The Blessed Life” by Pastor Robert Morris to name a few all under the direction of the Holy Spirit! This month we started Bible Study on the Book of Acts. This is truly a book in which we will see the Apostles “releasing the fire within” them as they set out on an amazing journey of setting the world on fire for the LORD!
I’m challenging the IDFC church family to release that which the LORD has poured into them. As with the Apostles and those who followed and believed in Jesus, we too will see souls saved, miracles take place, prayers answered, and see the awesomeness of God shown throughout the land. It’s all about the KINGDOM OF GOD!
Our war cry for IDFC: I AM KINGDOM MINDED TO BE A KINGDOM BUILDER IN POSITION AS A KINGDOM DISTRIBUTOR WHILE ON MY KINGDOM ASSIGNMENT The Spirit of the LORD is leading us to truly step out in faith and know that as we go, WE ARE ON ASSIGNMENT! Join with us and release the fire within you! Let the LORD use you in every way! Remember what Jesus said in John 14;12-14: 12 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:12-14 (NKJV)
This is the Word of God for the people of God to go forth and do the greater – RELEASE THE FIRE WITHIN!!
Many of you know that I truly enjoy reading Henry and Richard Blackaby’s devotional EXPERIENCING GOD Day by Day. Today is no different because I came across the devotion for March 24th entitled “Going Farther with God.” It caused me to truly think about my relationship with GOD and also my prayer life. In the devotion it pointed out that we have people today that are satisfied with just having a surface relationship with the Lord! Wow! I believe he is right on target with that! I agree with him because of the fact that many people who come to church have it in their hearts that because they have attended service then they are good for the week! They have made their appearance to the LORD, when really they have made their appearance to the people in the church and the enemy has deceived them into thinking that they must me good to go with God! You see the devil does not care whether or not a person goes to church or not – what he is concerned with is whether you apply what you heard while in the church! We can shout, we can dance, we can speak in tongues all day long but if we are not applying what the Word of God says, then the devil does not see you as a threat, but rather an ally or maybe I should say a spy!

I once heard Joyce Meyers use this phrase in one of her message, “Always think the best, until the worst proves itself.” I thought about that and have since adopted that as my philosophy of living. This philosophy helps me to be able to forge through the agony and pain of losing time thinking the wrong thing about what someone may say to me or even do to me because of my perception of an action by another person. I ask myself, “would this person intentionally want to hurt me or say all manner of evil against me?” In other words, I consider the source. If I know that the person is a brother or sister in the church then I can quickly say “No, they would not intentionally want to hurt me.” But if it is a sinner, one not redeemed by the blood of the lamb, then I can say, “Oh, they are just being who they are, a sinner – so it does not matter what they say!” So now, I am free to go on and enjoy the rest of my day!
Always think the best, until the worst proves itself! We the people of God can benefit greatly by living with this philosophy! So much misunderstanding, people taking offense, people leaving the church, etc., could have been avoided only if this philosophy was applied. Just think back over your life and the time wasted because you were upset over what someone may have said and later you found out that it really was not the case of what you assumed. You could have enjoyed those days had you put into action “Always think the best, until the worst proves itself!”
I recently came across a devotion that indeed shares this philosophy. It is taken from one of my favorite devotional book, “EXPERIENCING GOD DAY-BY-DAY” by Henry and Richard Blackaby. Enjoy:
