January 09, 2013: NO FEAR, JUST FAITH!

The news is not good! All through year 2012 news and media reports have been economic down turn, tax hikes, wars and rumor of wars! There was a very controversial and heated Presidential election and if that was not enough, we greet the New Year 2013 going over a fiscal cliff! The enemy is running rapid casting doubt and fear in folks, to include those who profess to be believers. These “fear factors” are the things that come to steal, kill and destroy and keep us tense, nervous and traumatized, with a mind preoccupied to point that we cease to move forward by FAITH led by the Spirit of God. What is the Good News? God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, WHO is against us? Who and what are we SCURD of? Shout “NO THING!” From the beginning, God gave us His Spirit and a new heart that we would walk in His statutes and keep His judgments. No fear, just faith…
God has given us His Power – In Matthew 28 (The Great Commission), Jesus gave the disciples a transference of authority through the power given Him, to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that He had commanded. Further, gives to us as He did the disciples, keys of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 16:19) and the power to bind and loose! He speaks to us in Luke 10:19 to remind us that He has given us power to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt us. Did we get that? He has given us power over ALL of the enemy and nothing (No Thing) shall by any means hurt us! We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. Have you exercised the power you’ve been given? No fear, just faith!
God has given us His Love – God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (1 John 4:16). There is no greater gift than love (John 3:16). Through His love, He has given us the ability to love others despite adversity and to present ourselves as His children, His people, and His disciples. Others will know whose we are by the love we show. We are reminded what love is and what love is not in 1 Corinthians 13. In Scripture, Romans 5:8 reminds us that God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We are justified by the price of His Blood-shed and by faith in that atonement; much more through Him who died and rose again and is our Advocate sitting at the Right Hand of the Father. Having such a pledge of salvation in the love of God through Christ, we can rejoice in hope. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear.” (1 John 4:18) No fear, just faith!
God has given us a Sound Mind - (Philippians 2:5) states, “Let this mind be in you that is also in Christ Jesus.” The mind is powerful and is the control center of our thoughts and actions. As the saying goes; “Guard your thoughts, they become words, guard your words, they become actions, guard your actions, they become habit, guard your habits, they become your destiny. What we think in our heart, he becomes. (Proverbs 23:7) When we think fear, we become fear. However when our minds are renewed (Romans 12) the Spirit of God has the control. The Lord my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear; the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1). When our mind is renewed in the Spirit and power of God, we have His peace; there’s no confusion, for He is not the Author of it. Therefore, “Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:6-8). No Fear, just faith!
The cartoon of old exclaimed, “Have no fear, Underdog is here!” The good news of today is, “Need not fear, God is here!” He is with us and had given us His Spirit of power, and of love and a sound mind. When we chose Jesus as our Personal Savior, we allow His Spirit to begin to operate fully in us. When fear comes knocking, answer as the angels announced the Birth of Jesus to the shepherds abiding in the field, “fear not, for behold…” Fear is absolutely unnecessary when you are in God’s hands. Walk in the Spirit of God!
