May 13, 2013: To Everything There is a Season

Where is Spring? In light of unseasonable and sometimes unreasonable weather patterns, 2013 has shown us that things aren’t always as they seem! Old Man winter had decided to take it’s time to really show “himself” and even had a few folks doing the happy dance when Kansas experienced 60 and 70 degree weather in January! We had coats on one day and shorts on the next. I had to remind some that no matter how warm the temperatures got, the season was still winter! Like many, we eagerly awaited February 2nd for the infamous Groundhog, Puxatawney Phil of Pennsylvania, to forecast when Spring would arrive; 4 more weeks! Needless to say, 4 weeks and then some have passed and Spring officially arrived on March 21st and the temperatures have never been more frigid and snow and ice are everywhere!
My friends across the globe were posting pictures on FaceBook of snow-covered decks and BBQ grills. Snow and ice had covered roadways and bridges, and Washington DC had to close schools. Some Facebook friends had to audacity to diss” the Groundhog and one even offered a reward for his arrest! Funny as it may seem, they all were asking the same question, “Where is Spring?” I was quickly reminded of Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” March 21st, the season is Spring and there’s nothing that we can do to change that for it has been ordained, sanctioned and established by God for an appointed time and for His purpose. Furthermore, the focus was on the condition rather than the season! Come snow, sleet, hail or heat (conditions) does not negate that we are officially in the Season of Spring. There are 4 seasons and each have their time and purpose! Seasons are appointed by God for its being and continuance, which no human wit or providence can alter. It’s not the condition of the season, but rather the “fruition; it’s God Who allows, not a Groundhog, not any man, not anything, just as I am convinced that nothing can "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Season and Purpose; rejoice in knowing God is still God and He is still in control! He is the SAME yesterday, Today and Forevermore. Look to Jesus; keep your eyes affixed; not on the condition, but the Season. He is our guide and our direction. When the world is looking one way, we need to be looking to "THE WAY." The season is Spring. What Season are you in of your life and what "conditions" are we allowing to change our focus and perspective? There's purpose in every season.......Happy Spring!
