Pastor Don E. German
Interdenomination of Faith Church of the Living God


pastorPastor Don E. German was born in Charleston, SC on January 8, 1959 to Charles (deceased) and Williemae German (deceased) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. There he attended Friendship AME Church and under the leadership of Rev. Joseph T. Jackson (deceased), Pastor German received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of 15. At age 21, Pastor German accepted his call into the ministry in the AME Church and served as Rev. Jackson’s Armor Bearer.

Pastor German attended Clemson University from 1976-1980. There he was discipled and learned how to share his faith effectively in the Christian group, Campus Crusade for Christ International. While attending Clemson University, Pastor German was in the Army ROTC program; he graduated as a Distinguish Military Graduate and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army as a Signal Officer. His first assignment was with the SC National Guard. In 1982, First Lieutenant German went on active duty and was assigned to the 62nd Engineer Battalion at Ft Hood, Texas. It was there that Pastor German was influenced by Army Chaplain Larry Williams who truly displayed what an Army Chaplain was all about At that time Pastor German put in his paperwork to leave the Army and go to seminary.

In 1985, Pastor German came off of Active Duty to attend the School of Theology Virginia Union, Richmond, VA. While attending seminary, he was a Chaplain Candidate and served with the Virginia Army National Guard. In 1988, he graduated Magna Cum Laude and went back on Active Duty, this time as a Chaplain.

Since that time Pastor German has served in various locations, Ft. Gordon, GA, Republic of Korea, Ft. Polk, LA, Ft. Drum, NY, Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Ft. Jackson, SC, Germany, Ft. Riley, KS, Republic of Kuwait, and at Ft. Benning, GA. He has held key positions in the Army Chaplaincy at Battalion, Brigade, Division, and Army levels. His last assignment on Active Duty (2007-2009) he was the Deputy Garrison Chaplain for Operations at Ft. Benning, GA and Pastor for the Sightseeing Road Chapel Gospel Service.

While still on Active Duty Pastor German in August 2008 the Lord began to place people on his heart to help him establish the church, Interdenomination of Faith Church of the Living God-Columbus under the covering of Bishop Thomas and Prophetess Josephine Urquhart, Interdenomination of Faith Church of the Living God, Inc. in Leesville, Louisiana. The first meeting was held at the Pastor’s house in September of 2008 and in October 2008 officially became a church. On January 11, 2009 IDF-Columbus held its first service at the Salvation Army Worship and Community Center, 5201 Warm Springs Road in Columbus. The church met only on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 6pm, while Pastor German continued to Pastor the Sightseeing Road Chapel Gospel Service. On September 20th, Pastor German turned the leadership over and began to concentrate fully on IDF-Columbus. October 4th at 4:15pm IDF-Columbus began having services every Sunday at the Salvation Army Worship and Community Center.  On May 4, 2010, Pastor German and the congregation moved to 5870 Veterans Parkway, Suite M&N, in Columbus, GA.  Novermber of 2014, the church moved to it’s current location 3127 Tower Road, Building B, Columbus, GA.

Pastor German served at the Chattahoochee County Middle and High School as their In School Suspension teacher during the 2010-2011 school year. In July 2011, Pastor German joined the faculty at Americus Sumter High School in Americus, GA as the Senior Army Instructor of their JROTC Program. In 2016-2018, Pastor German served as the Baker Middle School Junior Leadership Corps Instructor.

In December of 2017, Pastor German authored his first book entitled “Who Are You? Reclaiming our Identity in Christ.”  This is the first of many that is to come.

Indeed this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.

Pastor German is married to Co-Pastor Annell German for the past 36 years and currently resides in Columbus, GA. They have two adult children, Dana Elizabeth, 29, Deridder, LA, and Daniel Charles, 24, Full Sail University, Orlando, FL.
