Am I shoe that brings a blessings or blisters? Ask yourself that question. “Am I a blessing or a blister?” What’s it like being my mother, father, sister, brother. What’s it like being my coworker? What’s it like being my friend? What’s it like being the Pastor of this member? What’s it like being my student? In other words, fill in the blank: What’s it like being my____________? Most importantly what’s it like being a Heavenly Father to this child?

2 Timothy 2:3-4
Theme Scripture- Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
In order to be a soldier an individual must first join a branch of the service. No one can be a soldier for the Lord until they first receive Jesus as their savior. This can be found in John 3:3, which states “Jesus answered and said unto him. Verily verily I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” A good soldier will have certain things that make them a good soldier. Just because you join a branch of the military that does not automatically make you a good soldier. What are the qualities of a good soldier?

Romans 12:2 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
2 Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.
Today I praise my Father because He showed me, “ME” in the bible again. I found myself as the children of Israel – “still needing to get Egypt out of them” on this week.

December 30, 2016: IDF Devotional – “It’s Time to Transform!” (Romans 12:2)

All of us at one time or another have experienced computer issues that have required us to pull out a manual, a tech phone number, or our hair…in order to troubleshoot the problem to get our systems running smoothly. In the past week when I experienced system problems, the message on the screen messaged that I needed to update my Browser. After several unsuccessful attempts to update with various programs, another message signaled that the Browser could not be updated to my current system. Bottom line, in order to upgrade the Browser, I needed to update my computer system! This brought to mind Romans 12:2; "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." I realized there are things in our lives we are trying to fix that cannot be fixed until our ‘system’ is renewed or replaced!

On an episode of a recent airing of an old television western, a young man was brutally beaten by a ruthless wealthy businessman. The young man was simply standing up for an elderly sickly woman whose land was about to be taken, out of greed, by the businessman. When it seemed like all hope was loss and the young man was physically defeated, help arrived right on time. The young man’s father, along with his brothers came to his rescue. Recognized upon his arrival as also being a businessman, the ruthless man stated how much it was a pleasure to finally meet the man that he had heard so much about in the business world. The ruthless businessman went on to explain that they were in a business transaction that went wrong, and was sure that he would understand the need of force in the situation. The father of the young man turned around and said, “oh, but you don’t understand, this is my son you have just beaten”!
May 01, 2016: Fear or Lack of Confidence

Upon Examining 2 Timothy 1:7 in the following different versions: New Living Translation, The Message and King James Version, I am thinking that fear used in this context, is not a matter of really being afraid but rather maybe a lack of confidence. One might ask, isn’t that the same thing? Well maybe, at first unless you dig a little deeper for a more concise understanding.

How does it feel to be at the mercy of another person’s intellect, skill, and sensory ability?
If you and I, could put our life in the hands of a pilot or a copilot that we don’t know, why can’t we put our trust in God when we don’t understand what he’s doing or asking us to do.

Matthew 6:6-13 reads (KJV)
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. 2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. 3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. Psalms 5:1-3 (KJV)
This is a nugget for new saints.
Hello my young brothers and sisters, I just wanted to share a little nugget on quiet time. You may not have heard or familiar with the term “quiet time” but it is vital in your walk and growth in the Lord. Quiet Time, what is it? What does it look like?
Quiet time is a set time to sit with God usually in the morning before the start of day. It’s anywhere from 5 min. to an hour with God in prayer, reading of scripture, again prayer, then meditating on the Word you just received from God.
What does quiet time look like? For many it looks like:
• A prayer asking God to reveal His will through His Word.
• Then reading of scripture. One verse to a whole chapter.
• 2nd prayer thanking God for speaking and asking for clarification on scripture.
• Then meditating on the verse or verses that jumped out at you from the passage you read to see how to apply it to your life.
God is not concern with how long your time with Him is, He only desire his kids to seek to have fellowship with Him each day. Oh how He loves you and me.
I pray this nugget blesses someone. In the beginning you may want to set a timer and turn the phone on low so you can be alone with God. Why? Because the enemy of your soul will try to interrupt this time you’ve set to be with God, for your spiritual growth.
The enemy of our soul, (Satan) doesn’t want us to grow closer to our Savior, but our faith says, push on my child! Push on.
